New 2″ High Quality LCD Screen
New for 2016, the SJCAM SJ4000 has been upgraded with a larger 2” LCD screen, previously only 1.5”. This upgrade drastically increases preview quality and user experience. We decided it’s important to include a high quality video screen that’s large enough to assist you in your quest for amazing videos. Sit down after a day of filming and review the footage or play it back on location as you just stomped that new trick. Easily delete any unwanted photos or videos directly from the camera, save time and storage space while still keeping those winning shots!
Waterproof up to 100′
The SJCAM SJ4000 waterproof case comes included at no extra cost. When contained in the waterproof enclosure, the SJ4000 is fully waterproof and capable of reaching depths up to 100’ giving you the opportunity to film fascinating watersports at a price point that’s only available from SJCAM.
170° Ultra Wide Angle Lens
The 170 degree ultra wide angle lens captures a spectacular first person view of your surroundings and performs well in aerial settings. Not all scenarios require the ultra wide angle lens, the SJ4000 also includes adjustable point of view, a setting that will alter the perspective with 3 different view options.
SJ4000 Photo Modes
- Single Shot
Capture stunning high resolution .JPG images up to 12MP. - Timelapse/Photo Lapse
Timelapse will automatically capture .JPG images repeatedly on the selected interval. Settings can be manually set to take photos every: 3 / 5 / 10 or 20 Seconds. - Burst
With Burst Mode enabled you’re able to capture still photos at 3, 5 or 10 photos per second. - Underwater
Enable underwater mode for fascinating underwater snorkeling and diving footage. This feature helps reproduce accurate color for underwater use.
SJ4000 Video Modes
- HD Video
The SJ4000 saves video files as Quicktime .MOV (MPEG-4) video files compatible with both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Record continuous video in 1080P, 720P or standard definition. - Video Lapse
Much like timelapse, videolapse will take it one step further and automatically create a .MOV video file for playback. Settings can be manually set to capture 1 frame every: 1 / 2 / 5 / 10 / 30 or 60 Seconds. - Dash Cam
With Dash Cam enabled this mode will automatically turn ON the camera and start recording video when power is applied. Perfect for when you have the camera mounted on your windshield and plugged into the power adapter. When the vehicle turns off, so does the camera. Dash camera accessory kits are sold separately. - Underwater
Enable underwater mode for fascinating underwater snorkeling and diving footage. This feature helps reproduce accurate color for underwater use. - Motion Detection
With motion detection turned on, the camera will automatically start recording once motion is detected, once the motion stops, so does the recording. - Web Camera
Compatible with both Windows and Macintosh, the SJ4000 action camera may also be used as a USB web camera.

i think it’s a great little camera. i have never owned one before so i cant really compare it to anything else. the video quality is good but the sound quality is poor because of the tiny internal microphone but i guess action cameras arent really about sound quality in the small size that they are.
there is a mod for the sound though, you can take the camera apart, remove the little mic and install a 3.5 mm socket so you can plug in a lapel microphone. i did this and it was an easy mod. there are how to vids on youtube
there is quite a bit of white noise in the sound recording but if you speak loudly into the mic then you can turn the sound volume down when you edit your video making the static noise at a much lower level than the recorded narration. this amelioriates the noise problem and the sound quality is totaly acceptable

Called the guys at Xteme Sport for their recommendations and went ahead and ordered a couple of SJ4000 cams. Guys were very helpful. Just received the cams today. Went right onto the SJCAM manufacture website to check if the serial numbers are legit, yes! Order with confidence.

The instruction booklet is very bad you’ll have to go online and find your own instructions.

Best bang for your buck camera! Video quality is very sharp, similar to my friends Hero2, almost even better I’d say. I emailed Xtreme with a question and got a super fast response. These cameras are the real deal and NOT the low quality knockoffs! All in all AWESOME camera for the price (exactly what I was looking for) good customer service and super fast shipping. Thanks guys!!! Also, the camera was helmet mounted and taken to 200km/h and didn’t even fall off!

I have only had the camera a week or so but operating it is extremely easy. The UI is very simple and straightforward, no problems navigating it at all. I have mainly been using it as a dash cam so far, I will be trying it out for some underwater footage in a week or so. I was absolutely shocked by the speed of the shipping, so far I would recommend this camera and specifically this site to absolutely anyone.

I use it very often on my bike and also as a car dash cam.
The colors are just perfect , this is my third type camera and by far the best in quality and ease of setup using the back screen.
I was also very impress with all the accessories included with the camera.
Would recommend it to my best friend as I found no cons about it as of now.

Great camera. Operation is fairly simple. Only issue I have is that it makes a clicking sound when things get rough. It seems like there is a small play within the protective case or in chest mount. It is the same issue I heard about the older go pro I have previously borrowed.
